London-based active fund manager Guinness Global Investors (GGI) has launched the Guinness Global Environment Fund.
The fund is focused on five environmental resources – food, water, climate, waste and land – investing in companies that would benefit from the rising demand for the aforementioned resources.
It is managed by Jordan Patel and Jamie Melrose and hods 30 positions, equally weighted between the five categories.
According to GGI chief executive Edward Guinness, it is a “great time” to launch an environmental fund.
“Valuations are low and we have applied what we have learnt from the cycles in the environment sector to build a robust strategy that can identify companies benefiting from the long-term trend towards more efficient use of resources,” said Guinness.
“Despite wavering government support for environmental initiatives in the short term, this is a long-term investible theme for the next 20 years and beyond.”
